Aisling Cliodhnadh O'Sullivan (born 16 March 1984) more popularly known as Aisling Bea is an Irish actor, writer and comedian. Bea's professional career started in the year 2011 when she began her career as a comic following her appearance in a few roles in Irish and British TV series starting in the year 2009. In 2012, she started to regularly appear on sketch and sitcoms. She uses the surnamed Bea to pay tribute to her late father. Aisling O'Sullivan, whose real name is as Cliodhnadh Aisling, was born at Kildare town in County Kildare. Bea's father Brian was an equine vet who committed suicide when she was only three years old. Bea didn't learn how her father died until after she reached the age of thirteen. In 2017 she published an article in The Guardian about the suicide of her father's relatives and adopted her stage name Bea in tribute. Bea and her older sister Sinead was raised in the home of Helen Moloney (n e Moloney) an ex-jockey and teacher at a secondary-school. Their family was enthralled by races as well as horses. Bea started out as a tourist guide at Irish National Stud. But she quickly realized that her true passion was performing and not racing.
